Robbers use 'gay' lure to trap victim
Two Pakistanis are accused of robbing a European they befriended through a gay website, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The suspects – OAH, 30 and OHM, 28 – went to the European’s apartment as agreed upon earlier.
They allegedly stripped and assaulted the 34-year-old victim before carrying him to the bedroom and tying him up to the bed. They stuffed a ball into his mouth to keep him quiet and robbed the place.
The duo then made away with three laptops, two mobile phones, two cameras, seven watches and a digital headset.
After they fled, the victim informed police.
One of the suspects admitted to police that he befriended the victim through a gay site six months ago.
The victim faces charges of homosexuality, while the two suspects are charged for unlawful detention of a person, robbery and assault.
One of the suspects is also charged with possessing a fake passport.
Court is adjourned to October 8.
