Dubai Police Commander in Chief Major General Khamis Mutar Khamis Al Muzainah has affirmed that the news circulated in media lately about two Austrian women trespassing into a Saudi woman’s apartment and stealing SR 15 million in cash and US$ 4 million in cheques in January 2014 are inaccurate clarifying that the defendants are daughters of victim’s deceased Austrian husband and the case is a matter of family dispute.

Recalling details of the incident, Major General Al Muzainah explained that Dubai Police received in January last year a report about a robbery in a tower at Dubai Marina, and investigation team moved immediately to the scene.

The victim informed the police that her stepdaughters, (CTZ) 37 years and (CDZ) 35 years, assaulted and threatened her and stole documents, contracts, cheques, jewelry worth Dh16,000 and US$ 21,000 in cash. Investigations then revealed that  both  defendants had left the country before police received the report, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution.

Major General Al Muzainah asserted that the case was a mere family dispute.

The Public Prosecution permitted the defendants to enter the country and summoned both to the Public Prosecution’s office. The victim is the defendants’ stepmother, and they have a dispute about the deceased husband’s inheritance. Al Muzainah confirmed that both defendants are still outside the United Arab Emirates.

For accuracy, Dubai Police urged the media to communicate directly with the media center at Dubai Police General Headquarter to obtain updated information related to such cases.   .

EARLIER REPORT: The Dubai Criminal Court is prosecuting two Austrian women in absentia for physically assaulting, threatening and robbing a Saudi businesswoman.

According to the records, on January 26, 2014, at around 11.30am, KT and KD  surprised of MK, 47, Saudi businesswoman, by entering her flat in a tower in Dubai Marina holding two big bags.

The businesswoman was sitting in her office in her flat when KT approached her and dragged her by her shoulder and beat her. The attacker was big and weighed about 90kg while the victim was small and about 50kg in weight.

The second accused rushed to the printer, collected documents and put them in one of the bags. As she passed by the victim, the second accused punched her in the face and resumed collecting important documents.

The two women also threatened to throw her down from the balcony of the flat.

The victim held on to the furniture while the attackers were trying to drag her to the balcony. She was also screaming for help. The building’s cleaner, who was passing by in the corridor, heard the victim’s screams for help.

“I was cleaning the corridor of the 41st floor when I heard the victim’s screams for help. Heading towards the source of the screams, the victim called for me and I saw two women punching her in the face. One of the women approached me and kicked me out of the flat. Ten minutes later, the two attackers left the flat with two large suitcases,” SA, 45, Indian cleaner, told investigators.

The victim, who struggled against the attackers, reached the telephone and called 999.

“I told the police about the attack at the time that the two women were beating me up. The telephone attendant should have heard me screaming as the two women were beating me up before they hung up the phone,” the victim told investigators.

One of the attackers snatched the hand set and asked the attendant at the other end to help her kick out the tenant from the flat. She asked him do so before hanging up the phone.

When police arrived in the scene, the two attackers had already left with important documents including a waiver of ownership of a house in North Cyprus, contracts with a Saudi oil company, four cheques of $4 million, two gold chains worth Dh16,000  and US$21,000 in cash.

Police rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. The lawyer of the two attackers approached her in hospital seeking reconciliation.

The victim refused to reconcile after she was beaten up and robbed.

The Prosecution asked the court to implement stiffest penalty against the attackers.

The court will reconvene on April 20
