UAE journalist falls victim to money-transfer scam

The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police have arrested MAH, Bangladesh national, on charges of illegally using hardware and software technology to make international calls.
The accused sold this international access to residents of the emirate from an operation he ran from his home in an industrial zone of the emirate.
The Sharjah Police received a tip-off about a person selling international calls at low rates, without obtaining necessary licences from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
A security team raided the house and arrested the accused.
The accused confessed to committing the crime and said he did it to earn extra money.
He has been referred to the public prosecution in Sharjah.
The Director of Criminal Investigation of Sharjah Police has warned residents against indulging in such illegal activities.
