Sharjah Police bust 7-member gang of car thieves

Sharjah Police smashed a seven-member fraud ring involved in stealing luxury cars which they exported or sold in the local market.

The gang, comprising a local man and six persons from other Gulf and Arab countries, followed deceptive ways in persuading luxury car owners to sell them their vehicles for a high price in return for little cash and a dud cheque.Many victims told police that they were paid only a small sum of money and the rest as a cheque, which turned out to be without balance.

“They were issuing cheques by fake names and companies…they then confessed to receiving the cheques from an Emirati in Ajman, who in turn confessed to have accomplices,” 'Emarat Al Youm' newspaper said.It said police arrested the seven ring members, including an Emirati, a Syrian and Egyptian while the rest were from other Gulf and Arab nations.
