A Pakistani shepherd who possessed a special breed of goats and offered them for sale, was ordered to pay a fine of Dh5,000.

AM, 32, Bangladeshi, who was accused of stealing the six heads of goats from his employer’s farm, was acquitted.

According to the records, an 80-year-old retired Emirati, who suspected a Pakistani offering a special breed of goats for sale, helped to reveal the theft of livestock.

AS had gone to Al Ruwiya to buy fodder for his cattle. There were six ‘Najdi’ goats on a farm and asking the worker about its source, the latter informed that a Pakistan shepherd called KK had asked him to keep them temporarily on the farm until he found a buyer for them.

Becoming suspicious, AS pretended readiness to buy the goats and asked KK to come to the farm but he did not. However, two days later, KK came to the farm and took the goats after selling them to IM, 58, retired officer, owner of a farm in the area.AS informed the police as he doubted where the goats had come from.

Police arrested KK, 61, Pakistan, shepherd, who initially denied knowing that the goats had been stolen and claimed that he had bought them for Dh2,400 from a farm in the area. KK guided police to the farm of Ateeq, the original owner of the goats, and pointed at AM, 32, Bangladeshi servant who he said had sold him the goats.

AM admitted that he had stolen the goats from his employer Ateeq. The retired officer told the police that he had bought the goats from KK who claimed to him that he had bought them from a farm in Al Ain. Ateeq told police that he did not know that his workers had stolen his goats and sold them to the retired officer.

The Dubai Prosecution accused KK with possessing stolen goats with the knowledge that they had been stolen and prosecuted AM for stealing six goats from his employer Ateeq.

Other workers who assisted AM, 32, are still at large.
