Shopping bag camera took indecent pics

A French manager of African origin allegedly fixed a camera underneath a shopping bag he was holding to take pictures of women’s private parts.

A shopper KS, 26, Pakistani, was on the upper floor of the Mall of the Emirates, when he noticed abnormal behaviour of an African shopper.

“I saw an African walking fast and once he reached behind a woman who was wearing a skirt, he pushed his shopping bag between her legs. He repeated that several times before moving away and heading towards another women and doing the same thing between her legs,” testified AS.

The two women did not notice the man did behind them, so there was no reaction from their side.

AS told a security staff what he saw and the guard headed towards the shopper.

“When the security staff was approaching the African shopper, I saw the latter lifting the shopping bag. He then removed a camera that was underneath the bag and put it quickly in his pocket,” testified AS.

“The staff asked the shopper to hand the camera over to him. The shopper pulled the camera from his pocket and gave it to the security staff,” said KS.

The incident was reported to the police who came and arrested AH, 39, French operations manager.

Police checked the camera and found in the deleted folder 23 pictures for women walking in public places. The pictures captured their private parts.

Police also found in the computer of the accused 22 pictures of women’s private areas including some pornographic pictures. In the deleted folder, police found 293 pictures of the same nature.

The accused admitted to recording women’s lower backs and private areas to watch them after returning home.

However, he denied the accusation when he appeared in the court, saying: “I have never seen these pictures ... I have never taken them.”

The court will reconvene on November 27.
