An Egyptian social worker allegedly possessed and consumed hashish and tramadol, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MA, 31, was arrested following a tip off received by the police about him taking and possessing drugs.

Corporal Abdullah Saeed was assigned to arrest the accused.

“At around 8pm, I headed to Al Nahda area and saw the accused sitting in his Mercedes. Searching his car, I found a small box underneath the driver’s seat containing hashish wrapped in foil paper in addition to 20 tramadol tablets.

“We also found a small knife which carried traces of drugs and some tobacco wrapping papers. Confronting him with the confiscated drugs, he admitted to possessing them for personal use. He also admitted that he had brought them with him from Egypt," he told investigators.

Another policeman accompanied the accused to his accommodation in Ajman.

Searching his room, the accused personally handed over tramadol tablets that he was hiding in a cabinet in his bed.

A urine test proved that the social worker-  the records did not mention where he worked-   had taken hashish or marijuana.
