A foreman and security guard attempted to rob steel worth Dh5,000 from their employer and sell it to a driver, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On April 1, at around 1pm, Egyptian engineer, MM, 38, headed to the company’s site in Business Bay.

“As I reached, I saw a pick-up truck and the security guard at the site, ML, 35, was loading steel. He claimed that engineer MK, sent the pick-up and driver to load scrap steel. I called MK and he denied sending any pick-up and driver,” testified MM.

“Then, the security guard asked me to talk to the foreman, TA, who confirmed to me that he had asked the driver to pick up scrap steel. I informed the managers about the incident and they came to the site. I also explained to the foreman that he could not load scrap without company knowledge. Also, I noticed the loaded steel was not scrap,” said MM.

The foreman apologised for his action, but the management filed a complaint with police.

The foreman, security guard and the driver were referred to court.

The court issue verdict on August 21.
