A young Emirati student is accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl after he convinced her to sneak out of her family home.

Al Khaleej newspaper reported that the teenagers got acquainted through social media Snapchat.

The 19-year-old student, SM, and 13-year-old girl, also Emirati, have been chatting on messaging app Snapchat for three months.

The boy convinced the girl to leave her residence and meet him at wee hours.

She sneaked out through the toilet window and joined him for a ride during which he had molested and sodomised her twice at 2am in April.

The prosecution disclosed that the family of the girl discovered her absence and went to the police station to report the disappearance.

When they returned home they found the victim.

The family rushed to the police station where they accused the suspect of kidnaping their daughter and sexually assaulting her.

The defendant failed to show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The girl testified that she knew SM via Snapchat and communicated with him through her grandmother's phone.

She also added that the accused insisted several times in the past to meet but she constantly refused his request.

The girl narrated the entire sequence of events of the night and testified about the assault.

Police contacted with the suspect and he admitted of abusing the girl sexually.

The case has been adjourned until the suspect is legally notified about the next hearing.
