Student steals 2 dogs worth Dh44,000
An Emirati student allegedly stole two American Pauli dogs worth Dh44,000 from a house in the neighbourhood and set fire to their kennel before driving away, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
On September 6 at around midnight AA, 20, Emirati student, received a call from a friend who told him that he saw a white Land Cruiser moving out of his neighbour’s back door.
“Immediately, I called my neighbour and told him that and rushed out to his house and saw with my neighbour that the back door was open and the dogs’ kennel was on fire,” he said.
The complainant, MA, 24, Emirati, told police that he knew its owner from the description of the car.
“I went to his house and talked to his father after calling the police. I took him to my house and showed him the back gate of the house that was forcibly opened and the burning kennel,” he said.
Police questioned MM, 23, and the latter admitted to stealing the dogs and guided police to his father’s farm in Al Khawaneej where he kept the two dogs.
Police retrieved the two dogs and handed them over to the complainant.
The court will reconvene on March 31.
