Student used wanted man's ID to enter UAE

A student allegedly used another person’s identity card while entering the UAE through the Hatta border and was arrested as the real holder of the ID was wanted, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

ARS, 19, was asked by the immigration officer at Hatta border post to wait in the office after he submitted an ID that carried the name HRM.

“As I checked the name mentioned on the ID card, I found that HRM was wanted in a case of destruction of others’ properties. As the counter was very crowded, I asked the passenger to approach the officer in charge. A police patrol was notified to come and take the passenger to Lehbab police station. The passenger claimed that the ID was not his and that he used it as his invalid passport is with the General Administration of Naturalisation and Residency,” testified Corporal Mansour Salem.

The accused told the policeman that he is not HRM and that his real name is ARS when he was told the HRM is wanted for destroying others’ property.

ARS is accused of using a correct document of another person and impersonating another person while entering the country.

The court will reconvene on April 18.
