Suspicious husband suffocates wife to death, surrenders to Dubai Police
An Indian store keeper, who suspected his wife of infidelity, allegedly suffocated his wife to death, according to Dubai Court records.
SS, 33, who was drunk when he killed his wife in their house in Jafliya on the night of August 7, then went to Bur Dubai Police Station and surrendered to the police.
Corporal Waleed Mohammed testified in court that while he was on duty at the police station, SS approached the office at around 3am, saying that he had killed his wife following a fight.
“I was drinking when she returned home from work at around 7.30pm. I confronted her with her love affair with a man. We had a big fight over that. She went to the bedroom and put her dresses in a bag to leave the house which I prevented. When she abused me badly, I got angry. I threw her on the bed and sat on her. With one hand I blocked her nose and with the other I squeezed her throat. I stayed like that for half an hour until she lost all her strength and died,” the accused told the policeman.
Police officers went to the couple’s house and saw the body of the victim on the bed.
Forensics reported that the cause of death was suffocation and that there were scratches on her neck and nose.
Finger prints of the accused were seen on a bottle of alcohol in the room and on the door’s handle. The accused’s blood contained 27 mg/dl of alcohol.
The Prosecution has accused the husband of murder.
The Court will reconvene on December 5.
