A Nigerian salesman allegedly raped a British teacher after forcibly entering her flat behind her, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On January 1, 32- year-old teacher JL returned to her home in Silicon Oasis at around 2am.

“After I entered the lift, a man got in behind me. Then he asked me which floor I am staying at. When the lift reached the 25th floor, I got out and the man followed me out. When I reached my flat and felt him behind me, I asked him why he is following me. He said he wanted to be sure that I got into my flat safely. I told him I don’t need his help and asked him to stop accompanying me,” she said.

The woman then opened the door of her flat. When got in, he pushed himself into the flat and pushed the woman onto a bed.

“I tried to run out of the flat but he pulled me back onto the bed. He held my two hands and sat on me. I resisted him while he was undressing me but I could not as he was stronger than me. Gradually, I lost all my energy and so he could rape me,” the victim told investigators.

When he finished, the victim grabbed the opportunity and rushed to the bathroom.

The rapist rushed behind her and prevented her from closing the door. She then thought that he may lock her in, so she inserted her fingers between the door and its frame.

“When he left the flat, I put on my clothes, went to my friend, and reported the incident to the police,” said the victim

Forensic reported that the woman was subject to rape, there were some bruises were on her body and sperms in and on her body.

DNA test and fingerprints helped identifying IS, 30, as the teacher’s rapist.

The teacher recognised her rapist when he was shown to her via identification parade.

In addition to rape, the salesman is accused of entering a house against its resident’s will and assault.

The court will reconvene on April 12.
