Teacher suspended for injuring student

Umm Al Quwain Education Zone suspended a fine arts teacher for physically assaulting an 11-year-old student of grade six in Hatem Al Ta’aee of Falaj Al Muala school, reported Al Ittihad newspaper.

The teacher said during interrgation that the student had poured water on the floor of the class while he was teaching in the class.

Jassim Fayez, the director of the school said the incident occurred last Tuesday when he asked the teacher to take care of a class as the regular teacher was absent.

He added that on Tuesday afternoon after school dismissal, he received a call from the victim's parent complaining that his son had been assaulted beaten by the teacher. The student had received injuries in his hand, claimed the parent.

The very next day, a Committee was formed by order of the Umm Al Quwain Education Zone to record the statements from the students and the teacher.

He added that the students of the class said the teacher verbally attacked them and used abusive words and then hit their class mate.

The teacher also admitted beating the student but denied causing grave injuries to the student's fingers.

The students confirmed that the teacher had dragged the victim to a place where the surveillance camera would not be able to capture the action and then hit the student after grabbing him by his hair.
