Dubai’s police arrested an African man who stole nearly Dh73,000 from a car and their records showed he had been deported from the country because of robberies and other crimes, a newspaper reported on Saturday.
A four-day manhunt resulted in the capture of the man after a report by a new victim that his car glass was smashed and Dh73,000 vanished while it was parked near a bank in Baraha, Emirat Alyoum said.
Police found Dh25,000, about $1600 and other currencies in the defendant’s apartment in the area, it said.
"He had been deported from the country but managed to sneak back to resume his criminal activities…the defendant has targeted bank customers as he was stalking them when they leave the bank,” the paper said, quoting Brigadier Khalil Al Mansoori, head of the criminal investigation department.
