A jobless Comoros national who threatened a woman with chopping off her daughter’s head and fingers if she did not drop a police complaint she had lodged against him, was sentenced to six months in jail by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

The victim FH, 48, Emirati housewife, told investigators that on April 30 she heard a knock on her flat’s door in a building in Satwa at around 3am.

“I looked through the magnifying eye in the door and could see the accused who was wearing a black jacket and sunglasses. It was AH who asked me to open the door to talk to me. When I refused, he threatened to chop off my daughter’s head and fingers if we did not drop a police complaint we had lodged against him. I called the police immediately and told them about the accused knocking at my door,” she told investigators.

As the accused used to threaten the mother and her 21- year-old daughter by knocking on their door, they had to fix a camera outside their flat.

“This was not the first time he had knocked on our door. He had done that before and so I fixed a camera specifically to help record him,” said the mother.

Her daughter AA, student, was watching the accused through the camera and she heard him asking her mother to drop the case or he would cut off her head and fingers and saw him leaving the place after making the threat.

Police arrived five minutes after the accused left the place. Reviewing the camera recording they could see a man talking with his head covered with a black jacket. Confronting the accused with the recording, he admitted that it was him.
