Transit passenger charged with cocaine trafficking

BD, a 43-year-old Turkish transit passenger, allegedly transported 7.133 kilos of cocaine, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Sergeant Adel Ali testified that on May 3 while he was on duty in the transit hall of Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3, he was informed by Corporal Nasim Mohammed about a suspected passenger.

The passenger was arriving from Brazil en route to Syria. His two bags were abnormally thick. Searching them, police found in each bag six pieces wrapped in plastic and containing cocaine.

The court will reconvene on July 4.
