Truck-smuggling gang captured in Sharjah

In a recent operation, Sharjah CID captured a gang of nine Arab nationals that specialised in stealing and smuggling heavy vehicles out of the country.

According to Sharjah Police, the gang stole and smuggled 26 trucks from several emirates.

Arabic daily ‘Al Bayan’ also quoted the authorities as saying that the gang acquired some vehicles through insurance fraud as well.

The gang’s operations began to unfold  when the CID in Central Regions started investigating the case of a stolen truck in Al Dhaid.

It was revealed that the men involved in the crime would modify the truck, in addition to committing insurance fraud.

Moreover, the stolen trucks were smuggled out of the country through the UAE’s many border crossings.
