Two Britons held in Dubai for forgery, theft

Dubai’s police arrested two visiting Britons while a third one is still on the run after they were accused of forging airport stamps and stealing expensive watches and jewelry, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The two used forged passports at Dubai’s international airport and a fake stamp to sneak into the country before stealing a credit card to buy those items, the Abu Dhabi-based Arabic language daily Alittihad said.

“The two used that credit card to buy two expense watches worth round Dh13,715 and jewelry with a value of nearly Dh40,250,” the paper said, quoting Dubai’s prosecutor yousuf Fouladh.

He said the third defendant, a forgery expert, was on the run, adding that one of the defendants confessed to the crime on the grounds he needed money.
