Two get 6-year jail for prostitution

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance awarded two Nigerian women to six years in jail for prostitution, possessing indecent media materials and forging official documents.

The court ordered each of NB, 31, clerk and JA, 32, visitor, to be deported after serving their jail terms.

JA has also been referred to the Misdemeanor Court for overstaying.

According to the records, the Nigerian Consulate informed Dubai Police about NB who lures women from her home country to work in prostitution in the UAE.

On August 16, Dubai Police learnt from NB’s employer, a shipping company, who had offered her a clerk’s job but did not show up at work for the past six months.

Police also found out that NB stays in the Gardens.

On August 31, police raided the flat and arrested NB along with another woman JA, 32, who was on a visit visa but overstayed.

“One room was used by NB and had one bed. While the other room had five beds. Asking her about the beds, she said that she leases beds to compatriot women one of whom was JA,” Second Lieutenant Saeed Taleb told prosecutors.

The two women admitted to working as prostitutes.

NB admitted to bringing women from her home country and taking them naked and indecent videos to threaten them of posting the videos and pictures on the internet if they failed to pay her back the costs of bringing them into the country.

NB had actually posted indecent video of a woman who refused to work in prostitution after she brought her from Nigeria.

JA admitted to offering sex in the residential places of sex seekers.

After losing her passport she managed to get a forged one for Dh1,500.

She used the forged passport to prove her identity when accompanying men to hotel apartments.

Police confiscated some sex related tools and an account book used by NB where she registered payment made to her by other women.
