Two men lock up friend in toilet for 4 days
Two Asian men locked up their friend in the toilet for four days after he reported their prostitution activities to the Dubai police and inflicting heavy losses on their business.
But the two denied the accusations, saying the man owes them Dh15,000 and is their partner in the vice ring.
The Sharjah-based Alkhaleej newspaper said the man told court the two defendants kidnapped him, tied him up and detained him inside the toilet at their flat for four days.
He said they had done this to force him to pay Dh15,000 after he reported their prostitution business to the police, adding that they told him his act caused heavy losses to them.
“The two told the prosecution that they kidnapped him because he owes them Dh15,000 during his work with them.”
Prisoner sentenced to death dies of cancer
A prisoner sentenced to death for murder in Saudi Arabia died of cancer after waiting for nearly 18 years for the victim’s relatives to pardon him, newspapers reported on Monday.
Another convict facing execution in the Gulf Kingdom escaped from jail, triggering a massive manhunt in the area.
The cancer victim was jailed and sentenced to death by a court in the northern town of Qariyat nearly 18 years ago after murdering another man during a fight but the verdict was delayed to allow the killer’s relatives to pay blood money and get pardon from the victim’s family.
The victim’s family insisted on payment of SR10 million ($2.7 million) in return for diya (blood money).
“The convict died of cancer in prison this week after spending nearly 18 years waiting to be pardoned and released,” Sharq daily said.
In the south, another inmate sentenced to death escaped from jail, sparking an extensive police search operation.
According to Al Watan newspaper, the convict escaped this week despite tight security around the prison in the southern town of Abha.
"Police have launched a large manhunt operation to catch the convict,” it said without specifying his crime.

The vehicle’s Arab owner told police he caught the 10-year-old Iranian boy just after he smashed his car glass to steal items inside.

Beaten “a month ago”, husband goes weeping to police
An Arab man went into the police station in Kuwait and began weeping nonstop, prompting the officer and other police men to sympathize with him and give him tissues to wipe his tears.
The man then began slowly telling them how his wife had given him a good smack but would not stop crying, prompting the surprised police men to give him more tissues.
When the officer noticed that his tissue box was about to run out of tissues, he got mad and told the man to stop crying.
“Just tell me exactly what happened and briefly,” the angry officer told the man at the police station in Kuwait City.
“The man then revealed that he had an argument with his wife and she beat him up a month ago...when the officer heard this, he got even angrier and ordered the man to get out and go to court so he can demand his rights retroactively,” Alwatan daily said.
