Visit overstayer punches policeman on neck

An Iraqi visit visa overstayer hit a policeman when he was being arrested, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
OJJ, 35, also faces the accusation of impersonating another person because he presented another person’s labour card to the police.

Police approached OJJ while he was sitting in a coffee shop. After presenting their ID cards, the policemen asked him to show his ID. He presented a labour card belonging to someone called Ammar A. The policemen then asked him to come with them to check his identity with the operations room.

As they stepped out of the coffee shop, the accused surprised one of the policemen with a punch on his neck and ran away. Policemen ran after and caught him.

The court will reconvene on May 6.
