Visitor assaulted taxi driver over fare

JK, a 29-year-old visitor from Britain, allegedly assaulted a taxi driver over the fare and caused him five per cent permanent disability, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

JK is also accused of abusing Yousuf Ali Asaad and stealing Dh600 from him.

Yousuf, 45, Jordanian, testified that on March 7, 2011 at around 9am, he called on the accused asking him to pay the balance of the taxi fare but he abused him and pushed him to the floor, causing a fracture in his arm and give per cent permanent disability.

Policeman Omar Al Mahi testified that the accused had also stolen Dh600 from the victim.

The court will reconvene on March 14.
