Visitor caught buying mobile with forged card

A Mali visitor allegedly used forged credit card to buy a mobile phone from Carrefour in Deira City Centre, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MS, 37, visitor, also showed a forged ID card of Sharjah International Airport when asked for identity proof.

The Prosecution accused MS of forgery and attempt to steal a mobile phone.

A Neplai worker, KBK, testified that on June 9, at around 4pm the accused approached him to buy a mobile phone of Dh2,299 value. He submitted a Visa credit card in the name of Peter Golden to pay for the mobile.

The device rejected the card with a note that the card been suspended by the bank.

“I suspected the customer and asked him to present an ID card. He searched his wallet and claimed that his card is with a friend who is on the ground floor and attempted to escape. The Carrefour security were informed and he caught the accused till the police arrived,” he testified.

Corporal Mohammed Ali testified that when the accused was caught by the centre’s security, he tried to get rid of ID card belonging to Sharjah International Airport and four credit cards in addition to the one he used.

All the cards which belonged to different banks in addition to the ID card were made in the name of Peter Golden and proved forged. The accused admitted to the charges and the court adjourned the case for verdict till July 31.
