Woman accused of adultery but says she was raped

An Asian woman is standing trial in Abu Dhabi on charges of indulging in vice and drugs but she denied the charges and told court she had been raped.

When the judge read the charges, the unnamed woman burst into crying and defended herself as a victim of rape.

She said that she got into the car with a man who had promised to give her a job, adding that he and his friends took her to a deserted are and raped her.

“She denied all the charges and told the judge that she is married and that she has been looking for a job,” the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said, adding that hearings were adjourned to June 10.
