A man who made a false promise of marriage to a woman to defraud her of Dh400,000 in cash and kind, is facing breach of trust allegation in a Dubai court.

After the accused promised to marry the woman, she handed him over Dh320,000 in cash to buy a house for them. She also gave him furniture worth Dh100,000, the Dubai Prosecution investigated.

The accused put the money to his person use, thus breaching her trust in him as well as the power of attorney she gave him.

Yousuf Fulath, Head of Deira Prosecution, asked the public not to trust people so quickly as there are many who swindle by making false promises.

“Such people’s promises are traps. Women and their parents should be very careful and should take all necessary precautions to protect themselves against fraudsters making false promises of marriage,” he warned.
