Woman given 6 months in jail for prostitution

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Uzbek woman to six months in jail for prostitution.

NS, 38, jobless, was also ordered to be deported after serving her jail term.

According to the records, NS had been practicing prostitution since entering the country illegally four years ago. The woman was arrested by the police on April 19.

Corporal Saleh Naji testified that the accused confessed to practicing prostitution since entering the country illegally through the Oman border four years ago. She confessed to offering sex once or twice a week for Dh100 each time, the prosecution noted.

She denied the charge when she appeared before the court and asked for a quick verdict since she has been in prison since April 19.
