A drunken Pakistani worker, who attacked a woman on the street, dragged her to a pavement at knifepoint and groped her, was sentenced to one year in jail.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard also ordered MR, 39, to be deported after serving his jail term.

According to the records, on January 28, pharmaceutical consultant, RD, 37, Filipina, was walking home on a street in Satwa when she noticed someone walking behind her.

“When I saw him, he walked closer to me, pulled my hair and dragged me to the pavement, stood behind a car and threatened me with a knife in his other hand. He asked me to kiss him but when I refused, he kissed my lips forcibly. I tried to snatch the knife by holding its blade. Just then a car passed by and he fled after pulling the knife whose blade I was holding, which injured my hand,” the victim told investigators.

The victim called the police and a patrol in the area was rushed to the scene. Police arrived and asked the victim about the direction in which the attacker had run.

Corporal Salim Saeed walked with his colleague in the area looking for the assaulter.

“While walking on a street, I noticed a man standing suspiciously. I informed my friend and we both ran after him. While we were running behind him, I noticed that he threw something away. We managed to catch him. Searching the area, we found a knife,” said the officer.

MR admitted to attacking and groping the woman. He also admitted that her hand was wounded by the knife when he ran away.

The accused admitted that the knife which the policemen found in the area was the same one with which he attacked and threatened the victim.
