Worker crushed by road roller in UAQ

A Bangladeshi worker was crushed to death by a road roller during work in Umm Al Quwain on Sunday and police blamed the roller’s driver for the accident.

The 32-year-old worker was walking behind the roller to clean the road when it suddenly reversed gear and moved back, crushing his body under its heavy wheel. He was rushed to hospital but was already dead.

“The accident happened because of negligence by the driver who did not think there is a person cleaning the road behind the roller,” said Lt Colonel Salim bu Haroon, head of police stations in the emirate.
