An Asian dealer in Dubai gave his worker a sum of Dh420,000 and asked him to take it to a nearby shop. Tempted by such a big sum, the worker who is paid just Dh900 a month, stole the money and claimed he was robbed.

Although he wounded his hand so the theft will look as robbery, police were not convinced and immediately suspected the worker to be behind the incident.

They became more suspicious when forensic experts told them the wound was too slight. And the suspicions came true when they found his claims that the lane where he was stolen was deserted at the time of the robbery were not convincing.

Pressed by the investigators, the 24-year-old Asian worker confessed to have stolen the money and hidden it under a water tank on top of the roof of a nearby building. He told them he selected that place to avoid being suspected.

“We became more suspicious of the worker when we learned that his salary is around Dh900 a month,” Dubai CID chief Brigadier Khalil al Mansoori said.

He said his employer had refused to file charges against the worker from the beginning and still refrained from suing him even after he was arrested. But he added that the worker was arrested for such an act and would be prosecuted.
