A 22-year-old Emirati salesman allegedly stabbed his brother's friend several times attempting to kill him because of touching his friend while stretching back, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

KOI is facing the charge of attempted murder.

The victim, MYS, 20, who does not have identification documents, testified that on September 10 at around 1pm, he was sitting in the car of JO - brother of the accused -- with another friend identified as FS near a grocery in Muhaisna 4 area.

“JO received a phone call from his brother asking him about his whereabouts. JO guided his brother to the place where they had stopped. Fifteen minutes later, KOI arrived with a person and asked his brother to drop them to Nad Al Hamar area.

“We all went with them in the car and I was sitting in the front seat and the accused was sitting right behind me and next to him was his friend while FS was sitting behind JO who was driving the car.

“After the car moved about 100 metres, I stretched back and my hand touched the accused’s friend.

“I apologised to him and the latter accepted my apology. However, the accused started yelling at me and asked his brother to stop.

“JO stopped the car and his brother got out of the car, opened the door near me, dragged me out, pulled a knife from his pocket and started stabbing me from the head to the legs.

“After a stab in the back of my skull, I fell down and he started stabbing me in my shoulder, belly and leg.

“I fell unconscious and woke up in the hospital. It seems the accused wanted to kill me,” testified the victim.

The medical report said the victim received a 4cm wound from the top of his head towards the back, another wound of 4.5cm length in his left shoulder, a 17cm wound stretching from the middle top down towards his navel and next to it a 2.5cm wound and a third stab of 0.5cm  and a 4cm-long wound at the top of his left leg.

The medical report also said the victim’s intestines were hanging out of the long belly wound.

FS testified that the he saw the accused stabbing the victim several times and that he was bleeding severely in his head.

SK repeated the same testimony.

Police arrested the accused on the following day and confiscated the blood-stained knife he was hiding in his underwear.

The Prosecution noted that the accused had admitted to stabbing the victim several times with a knife.

The Court will give its verdict on February 10.
