Rebuffed Gulf man tries to kill European girl

A man from another Gulf country is on trial in Abu Dhabi on charges of stabbing a European girl many times after she rebuffed his advances.

After recovering from her wound, the girl told court that the man helped her when she came to the UAE and gave her Dh20,000 to buy a car.

She said that he later revealed that he was in love with her, but that she told him she considered him only a friend.

Newspapers said the judge on Tuesday adjourned hearings to February 1.
