12-year-old boy caught twice smuggling drugs to Saudi
A 12-year-old Yemeni boy has been arrested twice by Saudi police and deported back home after he was caught smuggling Qat, a drug-like herb widely used in Yemen but is banned in conservative Saudi Arabia, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
Police seized the boy within a group of men sneaking into the Gulf Kingdom across the border with Yemen to smuggle Qat, which is grown in Yemen and other countries.
Sabq Arabic language daily said the boy confessed to smuggling Qat but told Saudi police the stuff has been supplied to him by his uncle.
“It was not the first time I was caught…it was the second time…they have sent me back home again but I will return to Saudi Arabia again and again,” the boy said.
