AIDS victim held for making liquor in Saudi

Saudi Arabia’s religious police arrested a local man on charges of producing home-made liquor and the defendant turned out to be infected with the deadly AIDS disease, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice raided a rented house in the western town of Taif after a tip off that it is involved in making alcoholic drinks, Sabq Arabic language daily said.

The man, in his 40s, was arrested along with two Ethiopians while nearly 80 barrels of liquor were seized.

“Police found that the Saudi man is suffering from AIDS and that he has is wanted in cases involving drug dealing and sodomy,” the paper said.
