Arab held in Saudi on abortion charges

Saudi police arrested an Arab man after he was caught red handed aborting a pregnant women in the conservative Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Police raided the man’s apartment in the western Saudi town of Makkah and arrested the unnamed man who was in the process of aborting a woman.

Okaz daily said police raided the flat following a tip-off, adding that the man confessed to aborting several other women.

Abortion is strictly banned in Saudi Arabia and such crimes are heavily punishable.
