An Asian cleaner was caught selling dead sheep to restaurants which are believed to have served them for customers, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

A municipality official inspecting restaurants in a neighborhood in the Western Saudi town of Taif caught the cleaner carrying a dead sheep and heading for a restaurant.

“The cleaner confessed to have sold many dead sheep to restaurants at very cheap prices.

“He handed him over to the police who found more than SR5,000 in his possession,” Sabq daily said, adding that some restaurants appeared to have bought dead livestock from the worker to serve them.

Saudi Raqi claims he questioned jinn

A Saudi Raqi (healer) said he succeeded in curing a local girl suffering from various diseases after he was told by jinn (ghost) she was under a magic spell.

Fawaz Al Mastah said he checked the 24-year-old girl and found that she was suffering from swellings, bleeding and sleeplessness because of a suspected magic work.

“After regular sessions that lasted 22 days, the jinn finally spoke and told me that she was under a magic spell and told me where the magic work is placed,” he said, quoted by the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq.

Mastah said he found the magic items hidden in the girl’s wardrobe at her bedroom in the northern town of Rafha, adding that they included pieces of her clothes and hair.

“I found that this sort of spell is intended to afflict a person with illnesses, but I dismantled it and the girl has started to get better,” he said.
