Costly kiss for Pakistani driver in Bahrain

A 39-year-old Pakistani driver had apparently not known a kiss on the cheek of a little Bahraini girl would cost him his job and 10 years of his freedom.

The man told court in the Gulf island Kingdom he kissed the five-year-old child as one of his own daughters but the court did not believe him.

A medical report presented to court in the capital Manama showed the girl suffered from redness in her check, indicating it was a “violent kiss by force,” the court was told.

The unnamed man was arrested after the girl’s mother reported him when she was saw her daughter crying after returning home from school.

The girl told her mother that the driver, who used to take her to school every day, kissed and bit her cheek.

She said that he had asked her many times to bite her cheek but that she refused until he forced her on that day.

Bahrain newspapers said the judge scoffed at the defendant when he said that he kissed the girl with her consent, telling him there “such things cannot be taken from a child in court.”

The judge told him that the pictures showed there was a “trauma-like” sign on the girl’s face and that it “cannot be a normal or paternal kiss.”

The papers said the judge found the driver guilty of kissing the girl by force and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. He also ordered him expelled from Bahrain.

Thief tells school to “leave some money next time”

A man who sneaked into a school in Saudi Arabia and tried to rob it was deeply disappointed when he found no money.

“Next time, leave some money,” the thief wrote in the board before leaving the school building in the western Saudi town of Madinah.

Newspapers said the man was later arrested by police, who were helped by the man’s note in the school.
