‘Dating’ lands man in Kuwaiti jail

A Kuwaiti man had apparently not realized that writing just one word on a woman’s car would cost him 120 days in prison.

After he pleaded guilty, a court in the oil-rich Gulf emirate sentenced the man to four months in prison and ordered him to pay KD5,000 (Dh65,000) damages to the girl for writing the word ‘dating’ in Arabic on her car.

“The girl said it would appeal the sentence for stiffer punishment of the man,” a court source said, quoted by Kuwaiti newspapers.
