Driver in jail for letting girls smoke, dance in bus
A Saudi court sentenced a bus driver to three years in prison and ordered him lashed 300 times for allowing college girls to smoke and dance inside the bus.
Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Saudi Arabia’s religious police, arrested the driver at a shopping mall with the girls.
The court in the Western town of Taif found him guilty of violating Islamic and education rules by taking the girls for trips before and after college time and allowing them to smoke and dance inside the bus.
“Some of the girls were found to have taken off their face veil in front of the driver,” the Arabic language daily ‘Sada’ said.
