Driver may be executed for raping college girl

A Pakistani bus driver could be beheaded in Saudi Arabia for raping a university female student many times and filming her naked body with his mobile phone.

The prosecution had demanded maximum jail term and lashing of the defendant but a court of first instance in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah rejected the case and referred it to the general criminal court, saying he deserves death.

“No matter what the prosecutor is demanding, the crime perpetrated by the defendant is very serious and constitutes a violation of the girl’s chastity and God’s will,” the court said, according to Sharq newspaper.

“Therefore, the court believes that the punishment against this defendant should be beheading, which is not within the authorization of this court.”

Sharq said the driver was arrested early this year after the Saudi girl reported him to the members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. She said the driver had raped her many times inside the bus after transporting her colleagues to their homes and that he filmed her many times to frighten her against reporting him.

“The Commission member succeeded in trapping him by asking the girl to stay in the bus…once he tried to rape her again, they seized him.”
