Maid in suicide bid saved in Lebanon

An Ethiopian housemaid climbed out of the balcony at her employer’s apartment in a high-rise building in Lebanon and threatened to jump down before she was caught by the civil defence in the last moment.

A YouTube film showed the civil defence man holding the maid and sliding down a rope ties to the top of the building in the southern town of Tyre.

Newspapers said the maid was caught just before she was about to jump but they did not mention her motives for attempting a suicide.

Shild accidentally ends life

A 10-year-old Saudi boy accidentally killed himself when a rope he was playing with caught his neck and choked him.

The boy was playing with the rope tied to the air conditioning set at his house in the Eastern Saudi Ihsa province when he slipped down.

“The rope caught his neck and chocked him while his parents were out of the house,” police spokesman colonel Ziad Al Rugaiti said.
