Maid mixes her 'blood' with employer’s food

Following repeated reports on housemaids mixing their employers’ food with their urine, an Asian maid in Kuwait seems to have gone further by adding her blood.

Her Kuwaiti employer discovered the heinous act when his teenage son felt excruciating pain in his stomach and started to throw up just after having a meal prepared by the maid.

The father had thought it could be caused by a meal outside but the son told him the only meal he had was that prepared by the maid.

Doctors at a hospital in Kuwait City told the man his son had been poisoned by a blood-like substance placed in the food.

“At the police station, the maid collapsed and confessed she had mixed the meal with her blood,” Alanba daily said without mentioning the reason for the maid’s action.

In an updated report later, the paper quoted a police officer as saying the 24-year-old maid would be charged with attempted murder.

“I have just spoken to the prosecutor who told me that this act amounts to a murder attempt,” said Major General Ibrahim Al Tarrah, head of security in Jahra area in Kuwait City.

He said the boy was still in hospital for treatment but that his condition has stabilised.
