Saudi police arrested a man pretending on camera that he slaughtered his son so his guests would wash their hands with his blood to demonstrate his generosity.

The brief shocking film went viral on social networks and police launched a manhunt for those involved following calls by thousands of viewers to punish them.

The film, which was published by many Saudi newspapers, showed the man feigning he was slaughtering his son while his guests stretched their hands to wash with his presumed blood, which police said involved red liquid resembling blood.

Sabq and other newspapers said that although the film was not true, it shocked viewers who called on the police to track down the man and his friends.

“We arrested him and his guests…they are between 20 and 30 years old…we will take the necessary measures against them for such an irresponsible and heinous behavior which is totally rejected by our society,” said Fawaz bin Jumail, police spokesman in the capital Riyadh, where the film was shot.
