Saudi Arabia’s religious police arrested a local man involved in abusing the Quran by ripping its papers and dumping them in the bin and mosque toilets. When he was asked why he was doing this, the man said he was told so by the "devil".

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice arrested the unnamed man in the southern town of Bisha following reports he has profaned the holy book for several days despite threats by residents.

“After a search, they found papers torn from the Quran in garbage bins and in mosque toilets.

"They planted hidden cameras, which identified the man,” Sabq daily said.

They later arrested him and took him to the police station after he put up tough resistance. During interrogation, the man said he was in contact with Devil and jinn (ghosts), who ordered him to do so because he wanted to learn magic.”
