Mum refuses to take eloping teen daughter back

A Saudi girl disguised as a man and eloped with her boyfriend but was caught by the Gulf Kingdom’s feared Islamic police on the same day. When they tried to hand her over to her home, the mother refused to take her.

The girl, wearing a traditional male Saudi dress, was walking with her boyfriend in a shopping mall in Riyadh when she was stopped by members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

“They stopped her after suspecting the way she walked. They were surprised to find she was a girl,” Kabar newspaper said.

“When they took her back home, her mother refused to let her in and said she no longer wants her. The girl was taken to a social care centre.”

Man arrested for urinating in airport lounge

A drunk Saudi passenger, angered by a decision not to let him travel, took his clothes off and urinated in the main lounge at Cairo airport.

The man and two Saudi friends were at the check-in desk for a flight from Cairo to the Saudi capital Riyadh on Friday when airport officials told them they cannot travel because they were under the influence of alcohol.

“One passenger went mad and took all his clothes off and urinated in the main hall to the shock of hundreds of passengers,” Saudi daily Ajel said, adding that Egyptian authorities arrested the man and took him away.

Reckless driver kills family in Saudi

A Saudi driving at high speed rammed into another car in the Gulf kingdom, killing a man, his wife, mother and his son. Another little son survived the accident but remained in critical condition at hospital.

The Saudi man and his family were returning home to the western town of Taif when they were caught off guard by a speeding vehicle heading straight towards them. The man tried to maneuver but it was too late.

“The other car rammed into their car, killing all the family except a little son…he was admitted to hospital in a critical condition….the reckless driver escaped with medium injuries,” Sharq daily said.
