Pregnant Saudi girl dies after taking abortion pills

A 29-year-old Saudi girl who got pregnant during a relationship with an unknown man died after taking abortion pills which caused a severe hemorrhage in her uterus.

The girl, who was not married, was pregnant in her sixth month when she suffered from bleeding in the womb and was rushed to hospital in the western town of Makkah.

Relatives had called an ambulance to the girl but had not known she was pregnant and that she was taking abortion medicine.

The Arabic language daily Alsaudeh said the dead fetus underwent a DNA test to help police identify the father.
