Saudi teacher set ablaze while asleep

A Saudi school teacher in his 40s died after he was set ablaze while asleep at his home and police suspect his wife killed him with petrol.

Police and civil defence managed to control the blaze at the teacher’s house in the western Saudi town of Makkah and rushed him to hospital but he died shortly later.

Doctors said the teacher suffered from severe burns after he was set ablaze by someone using petrol.

"Police suspected the teacher’s wife as she was sleeping next to him just before the fire erupted. Police arrested the woman and are investigating her,” Sharq daily said.
