The body of a school student in Egypt's Al Ismailia Governorate was found brutally murdered and dumped in a canal.
Police cornered the suspect in less than 24 hours after discovering the body.
The 26-year-old unemployed man - a neighbour of the deceased - confessed to stalking the teenager on her way back from school.
He allegedly hit the 14-year-old with a stick as she walked back home and when she fell unconscious he carried her to his home. He claimed to have stripped her in order to molest her when she woke up. So he hit her again inflicting injuries on her person and lost consciousness again.
He allegedly raped her but was afraid that she had succumbed to the trauma.
In order to hide his heinous crime, he bundled her into a plastic bag and dumped her in Abu Tafla Canal.
He then returned home and burnt her school bag to hide any traces of evidence.
Police found traces of blood on his clothes and walls, which he confessed was that of the victim's.
He has been referred to Public Prosecution.
