Yemeni ends life for not being permitted to marry his cousin

A 24-year-old Yemeni man poured petrol on his body and set himself on fire after his uncle refused to let him marry his daughter with whom he was in love.

Police said the man was rushed to hospital in the western Yemeni province of Al Mahwit but died on the next day because of severe burns.

“He committed a suicide by setting himself ablaze after his uncle rejected his request to marry his daughter,” the province’s CID chief Colonel Mohammed Al Nazili said.
