Youth kills grandma in front of mom and siblings

An unemployed Egyptian drug addict slaughtered his grandmother in front of his mother and siblings after she refused to give him money to buy drugs, the ‘Sada Al Balad’ Arabic newspaper has reported.

The crime took place in Al Haram Avenue of Giza governorate.

The police immediately moved to the scene where they found the body of the old woman on the floor of the house. She had been stabbed several times.

Police investigations confirmed that the grandson of the victim had committed the crime.

The mother of the killer - who is also daughter of the victim - informed the police that her son had committed the crime.

“My mother was visiting my house. When we were sitting in the hall, my son asked her to give him 100 Egyptian pounds to buy drugs. My mother refused to give him money. He became angry and rushed to the kitchen, brought a knife and stabbed my mother to death.

“Myself and other family members were shocked and could not help my mother or control my son. He threatened us with death if any one intervened to defend my mother. He left her lifeless body in a pool of blood and fled,” the mother of the killer said.

Police arrested the suspect, who confessed to committing the crime. They referred the case to prosecution which ordered the imprisonment of the family and the killer for four days pending investigation.
 

15 Saudi girls arrested at cocktail party

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police arrested 15 female university students during a cocktail party that also involved five men.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice raided a rest house in the western town of Taif after receiving information about plans to stage a concert that will include music and dancing.

Newspapers said the five male students managed to escape while all the 15 girls were arrested. They said police seized a large amount of “pies, sweets and juice” at the party.

Men and women are not allowed to interact in conservative Saudi Arabia unless they are closely related.
